FrontRunner train collides with semitruck

Two people were treated for minor injuries after a train collided with a semitruck Saturday morning, authorities said.

The collision happened at about 1050 W. 1100 North just before 10 a.m., according to South Davis Metro Fire Chief Jeff Bassett. The agency tweeted that two people were being treated for minor injuries after passengers were escorted back to the Woods Cross FrontRunner Station.

14-year-old girl critically injured after being shot near West Valley mall ==========================================================================

A 14-year-old girl was hospitalized in critical condition Saturday after she was shot in what police say was a gang-related confrontation near the Valley Fair Mall.

The girl received a call telling her to come to the area, according to West Valley Police Lt. Robert Hamilton. When she arrived with friends just before 7:20 p.m, there was an altercation and shots were fired, one of which struck the girl.

Based on accounts from witnesses, Hamilton said police believe the incident is "gang-related and intentional."

Driving vehicles you'll never see outside of an airport and running highly specialized scientific equipment, the team at Salt Lake International works nonstop to keep air traffic moving.

"Downtown, each plow driver would have a certain plow route," veteran driver Harvey Murphy said. "Out here, it's very coordinated. There's certain methods that we use and we have to follow. It's very strict."

Firefighter paramedic killed, nurse seriously injured US 40 crash

An Intermountain Life Flight paramedic was killed and a Life Flight nurse is in serious condition after a crash involving three vehicles on U.S. Highway 40 near Strawberry Reservoir Sunday morning, Intermountain Medical Center officials said.

Intermountain spokesman Jess Gomez said Tyson Mason, 29, of Plain City, was killed in the crash. The nurse, whose name and age were not immediately released, was airlifted to Intermountain Medical Center.

Police hope to ID person of interest in fatal Ogden shooting ============================================================

Police are investigating the death of a man who was found shot at a convenience store parking lot in Ogden early Sunday morning. Later in the day, the Ogden Police Department released surveillance video of an armed man they are calling a "person of interest" in the case.

Hill scores 30 vs. former team as Jazz beat Pacers 109-100 ==========================================================

George Hill insisted there was no extra motivation in facing his former team for the first time since being traded during the summer.

Motivation or not, the Utah Jazz point guard torched the Indiana Pacers for one of his best games of the season.

Hill scored a season-high 30 points and the Jazz led wire-to-wire in a 109-100 win over the Pacers on Saturday night. He was seven shy of his career high.

How local players fared at Shrine Game, Collegiate Bowl =======================================================

It was all-star weekend for a bevy of college football stars looking to impress NFL scouts at the East-West Shrine Game in Florida and the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl in California.

Mika with 17 points, BYU rolls past Pacific 62-47 =================================================

Eric Mika scored 17 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for his 13th double-double this season and BYU rolled to a 62-47 win over Pacific on Saturday.

Daniels and Bonam each score 24 as Utah beats Washington ========================================================

Devon Daniels could not be stopped. Seemingly whenever he wanted to get to the rim, the chance was there for Daniels to score.

Daniels darted through Washington's defense for a career-high 24 points, Lorenzo Bonam also had a career-high 24 points and Utah pulled away in the second half for a 94-72 win over the Huskies Saturday night.

Braxton, Senglin lead Weber St past Northern Colorado, 74-69 ============================================================

Zach Braxton scored 17 points, on 8-of-10 shooting, Jeremy Senglin hit three 3-pointers and scored 15 and Weber State beat Northern Colorado 74-69 on Saturday night.
