SPAIN — Here’s the thing: I don’t love climbing up stairs.

I work in a building that has six floors, and I tend to take the stairs when I can. I’ve been told it’s good for my heart — especially since I sit at a desk most days — but I still gaze longingly at the elevator every time I bypass it for the stairwell. I’m in decent shape, but I still get winded by about the three flight mark. Without fail.

So when I saw a video from Guinness World Records that had to do with stair climbing, I thought the 90 stairs of Saint Mary’s Cathedral in Girona, Spain, seemed a little light for a world record, but that is more stairs than I’d prefer to climb in a day. Turns out, the record was more complicated than that.

Yesterday's Have You Seen This?

Two Vietnamese brothers went for the record of most consecutive steps climbed while balancing a person on their head. Ninety stairs. Fifty-two seconds. While one person was upside down, steadying themselves solely on another person’s cranium.

I just whined about not being able to climb stairs without having to stop and catch my pathetic breath. Turns out the circus tandem of Giang Quoc Nghiep and Giang Quoc Co were able to get in some cardio while performing an improbable balancing act, all in under a minute.

The previous record was 25 steps, set back in 2014, according to Guinness.
