ROAD TO SUCCESS
September 16th, 2008 @ 11:55am

Reading is essential to every child's educational success. KSL 5 Television and KSL Newsradio join with the Ken Garff Automotive Group and the Governor and First Lady to make reading a central part of every child's educational experience at home and at school. The reading program is called "Road to Success."

"Road to Success" purpose is to have every child read or be read to twenty minutes every day. This way, adults and children learn the power of reading together. They experience the joy that comes from reading. Children quickly see that they can go anywhere, anytime by reading. Children learn to read from the example set for them by adults who read to them. Children learn quickly from the stories they hear, the pictures they see, and the culture and traditions explained by written word.

We invite you to join our partnership to make reading available to every child in our state every day. Every participating school will set its own reading goals. Prizes and fun activities will encourage participation throughout the year, encouraging young readers to set their own objectives and measure their performance. Youngsters who meet their goals will be given prizes along the way, and they will be eligible for a drawing to win a bicycle at the end of the year.

Winning bicycles, however, is not our objective. Involving every Utah child and their family in a daily reading experience is the outcome hoped for. Please join our journey down the "Road to Success" for these young readers. Help them learn the most valuable skill they can acquire early in their educational experience. Help them learn to read!
