SALT LAKE CITY — When it comes to working out, many of us are creatures of habit. It's the same class, the same treadmill, the same run around the block. But it's good for the body to also shake-up that fitness routine. New workouts actually stimulate different muscles and help prevent boredom. Here are four new workouts to consider.

1. TRX is a suspension training system created by a Navy SEAL. "I tell everyone don't worry. We're not swinging, you're not going to be in the air, you don't have to worry about falling," said instructor Katie Harward.

TRX is aerobic and strength training wrapped into one. "The reason I like it is because you can imitate almost every single move you would do at a gym or a machine with free weights, but the entire thing is based on your own body weight," Harward said.

If you increase your stance it adds weight. If you back off it takes the weight away. You adjust depending on what you need, and you don't have to go to a machine or pick up a new set of weights.

2. Phunk Fit is a dance fitness class fusing funk and hip-hop. The routine progresses and repeats. You'll leave feeling like a true dancer. "They're not only getting a fitness experience, but they're also getting a dance experience that is our main goal too. We don't want it to be just a class, we want it to be an experience for everybody," said Pilates Revolution and fitness instructor Sarah Velez.

3. Boot Camp is a high-intensity progressive workout. You push weights around, lift kettle bells and lots of up downs. Former Marine Kenny Knight with RAGE fitness uses military-type exercises to motivate his students. He said, "That helps bring on that intensity and that motivation and that drive. You know you just want to push and work hard and kill, you know!"

4. Baby and me yoga is perfect for the mom trying to get back in shape. You're so focused on that cute little face, you often tend to forget your own body. Pilates Revolution & Fitness Yoga instructor Micki Ridd said, "It's hard to leave them when they're so little, but you also don't want to neglect yourself."

Tweaking that workout routine might just be what the doctor ordered. Switching it up may help you break through a weight-loss plateau and help get you re-energized about working out.
