WEST VALLEY CITY — West Valley City police officers were looking for several people involved in a home invasion robbery Friday.

Sgt. Brandon Christiansen said multiple masked and armed people — potentially believed to be teens — entered through an unlocked door of a home near 5000 W. Camstone Dr. before 5 p.m.

“They walked in right through the front door and told the family inside to get down on the ground,” Christiansen said.

From there, police said the intruders — who carried baseball bats and also possibly were armed with guns — tore through a couple of bedrooms inside the home and left with some of the family's property.

Investigators said preliminarily it was unclear why that particular home was targeted.

“It’s usually not something where you roll down the street and say, ‘This is going to happen to this house,’” Christiansen said. “Right now, we don’t know why it happened. We just know that it did happen.”

Christiansen said nobody was injured during the robbery.

After the home invasion, police said they did not have a good description of the intruders and could not even say how many entered the home.

Police had not updated the descriptions as of late Friday night.
