SALT LAKE CITY — With just five matches left in Region 2 play, the two-time defending Class 4A state champion Davis girls soccer team has outscored opponents 73-3.

On Thursday, the Darts did something different — clinched at least a share of history.

BYU commit Olivia Wade and Lindsey Direda each scored three goals to help the Darts, who are ranked No. 1 nationally by USA Today High School Sports, to an 8-0 shutout win at West to tie the Utah high school record for consecutive wins.

BYU commit Mikayla Colohan added two goals for Davis, and Kendyl Baker and Halle Moffat split time in goal to share the clean sheet.

The Darts (12-0, 8-0) tied the 2002-03 Alta team with 36-straight victories for the most in state girls soccer history. The Hawks had the top-two spots in the all-time rankings, with the 2006-07 team winning 28 in a row.

The UHSAA began compiling records for girls soccer in 1989.
