SALT LAKE CITY — A woman who prosecutors say was driving drunk when she hit and killed a man in a Wal-Mart parking lot has been sentenced to prison.

On Oct. 28, 2015, Lindsy Ann Floyd, 31, of Salt Lake City, hit George Kassavetis, 71, who had just left Wal-Mart, 350 W. Hope Ave., and was pushing a shopping cart. Kassavetis hit his head on the pavement and died several days later on Nov. 3 at a local hospital due to his injuries.

Blood was drawn from Floyd to be tested. Her blood-alcohol content was 0.18, more than twice the legal limit, according to charging documents.

Floyd pleaded guilty in July to automobile homicide while under the influence of drugs or alcohol, a third-degree felony.

On Friday, she was sentenced to up to five years at the Utah State Prison and ordered to pay more than $5,700 in restitution.
