SANDY — Real Salt Lake’s three-man front line lost another member Wednesday.

Reserve forward Devon Sandoval has been loaned to Rayo OKC of the second-division North American Soccer League for the remainder of the 2016 season, the Salt Lake club announced Wednesday.

Sandoval reiterated in a club statement that the loan is not an indictment on his standing with the club, head coach Jeff Cassar or general manager Craig Waibel.

“This is a good opportunity for me to get consistent playing time,” Sandoval said. “I’m excited to play in Oklahoma City. I’m on good terms with the organization and Craig Waibel, Jeff Cassar and my teammates have all been very supportive. It’s a good opportunity and you never know what can happen.”

Sandoval, 25, has played in 72 career MLS matches after being second in the second round of the 2013 MLS SuperDraft. In 2016, the New Mexico product has logged 223 minutes in 10 appearances, including two starts for RSL.

Sandoval also has five appearances with Real Monarchs over the past two seasons with the new third-division club, but now joins the second-division team that finished the NASL’s Spring 2016 season in eighth place with a 3-4-3 record.

Sandoval joins former RSL teammates Rauwshan McKenzie, Pecka, Sebastian Velasquez and Robbie Findley in Oklahoma City.
