KNOCK KNOCKVILLE — Having been married to a man who spent five summers hawking alarms, I have a soft spot for door-to-door salesmen.
I’ll listen to pitches of people selling magazine subscriptions, lawn care services, pest control and all other manner of mildly aggressively sold and mostly unnecessary products because I hope the people behind the hundreds of doors my husband knocked on in the heat and humidity were half as kind. Even if I didn’t buy anything, I’d usually send the salesman off with a bottle of water and a granola bar, and point them in the direction of anyone I thought might be interested.
A recently released video parodying Flo Rida’s hit “My House” perfectly and comically explains the plight of a door-to-door salesman and features some of Utah’s most talented humans.
Joining with Dish One, comedian Stephen Jones and artist Jamesthemormon completely revamp the hip-hop hit and retrofit it to explain how difficult it is to literally get in the door of a potential sale. Jones’ physical humor and Jamesthemormon’s undeniable talent make the video a worthwhile watch.
Jones of Utah County cranks out all kinds of crazy content online. You may remember him from the popular BYU library ad back in 2010. You can follow him on his Facebook page or YouTube channel.
You may remember Jamesthemormon from his time spent rocketing to the top of the iTunes hip-hop charts in April. You can also follow him on all manner of social media, including his personal website and Facebook.
