Lake Blanche, Wasatch Mountains (@bennettfilm)
A very photogenic landmark, as you can see. The trailhead for Lake Blanche is in Big Cottonwood Canyon, at the bottom of the prominent S-curve. Impressive Sundial Peak rises above the lake, like a boss. Two other small lakes (Florence and Lillian) are in the area, in case you're interested in hiking the lake trifecta.

Close to the city, but you wouldn't know it. There's a great state park and reservoir here to explore with the family, and you can even walk in the footsteps of early Mormon pioneers who made the trek from Illinois, thereby creating The Pioneer Trail.

The wildflowers think they're so special, taking over the mountain during summer months along both hiking trails up Timpanogos. They're right, though. They're pretty spectacular. The wildlife are also frequently found showing off, including moose and a herd of mountain goats.

It's easily accessible, relatively short and it can be customized to keep it easy or make it more challenging. Find it just outside the Kolob Canyons section of Zion National Park and go crazy.

If you've never been to Stansbury, it's time to rectify that. Just look at this photo and see what you've been missing. The southern half of the island is open to biking/hiking, and you may not see another person on your trip. The northern half of the island is controlled by mineral companies and is not open to the public.
