BATON ROUGE, La. — Utah Valley’s inaugural NCAA Regional run will last at least one more day, without having to play an inning Saturday.

With an assist from Mother Nature, of course.

The Wolverines (37-22) will play an elimination game against the loser of Southeastern Louisiana and Rice has been postponed until Sunday after the two were unable to finish their regional-opening game on time.

The Owls lead 4-1 after six innings in game two of the regional, which was originally scheduled for Friday but was postponed until Saturday morning due to inclement weather.

When the two tried to play Saturday at Louisiana State’s Alex Box Stadium, the game proved unable to finish by the seventh inning, and play was called.

Sunday will see the two teams try to finish their game at 10 a.m. MT, then the loser will play Utah Valley — which lost 7-1 to No. 8 LSU (43-18) in the opening game Friday — just 55 minutes later. The winner will play the Tigers in the third game of the day 55 minutes later.
