SALT LAKE CITY — Three more stories from world of sports.
1. West High outfielder makes ridiculous catch, nabs top play on 'SportsCenter'
There's been some crazy highlights shown here on "From Left Field" over time, but this play from center field has to be seen to be believed.
During last night's 5A softball title game between West High and Riverton, West led 7-6 in the bottom of the fifth inning when a Riverton batter smoked a potential game-tying home run.
However, West freshman outfielder Keisha White made an unbelievable an incredible catch, leaping over the fence to make the play preserve a one-run lead.

Here's another angle:
Absolutely INSANE catch by Keisha White! Goes all the way OVER THE FENCE to rob this homerun! 😱 pic.twitter.com/6h509V8Xov — NFHS Network (@NFHSNetwork) May 27, 2016
The catch ended up on ESPN's "SportsCenter" as the No. 1 play Thursday night and sent the sports world buzzing, which is a solid consolation prize.
Riverton wound up winning a wild game 13-11 when Riverton's Taylor Eakle hit a three-run walk-off homer to win the state title.
2. Spelling Bee final showdown yields viral moments
Some, possibly many, tuning the Scripps Spelling Bee on over the past few years have thought to themselves “Why is this on a sports channel?”
However, the sporting community has well embraced the competition over the past few years, especially on social media.
And when Thursday night’s spelling bee whittled down to a battle between Jairam Hathwar and Nihar Janga, several moments from the head-to-head competition.
There’s this shake of the head on a missed word:
This celebration:
And, after the competition ended in a tie with Hathwar and Janga tying — the third-straight year the competition ended in a draw — this unfortunate twice-left hanging on the high five moment:
Luckily, again, they got a share of the trophy.
3. Vin Scully recites ‘Field of Dreams’ speech, baseball fans rejoice
For baseball fans, finding flaws in “Field of Dreams” is pretty difficult.
It’s nearly impossible to find anyone better to recite James Earl Jones’s lines from the movie when his character, Terence Mann, reassures Ray Kinsella (played by Kevin Costner) about his Iowa ballpark.
However, baseball’s long-time favorite broadcaster and storyteller Vin Scully reading a monologue from that “they will come” scene from a flick considered one of the best baseball movies of all-time hit baseball fans right in the feels Thursday.
Right in the feels.
Unfortunately for everyone, Scully retires after this season after 67 years of broadcasting. However, even in his final broadcasting year, he continues to leave fans gems.
