OZ — Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel reunited for an emotional duet 12 years after last sharing the “Wicked” stage.

The now iconic fictional best friends duo sang their way into the hearts of New York City, the nation and then the world over a decade ago, creating a cultural phenomena that still resonates with people today.

I was certainly swept up in the the phenomena, and I saw “Wicked” twice in Los Angeles when I was a California resident. Of course, I didn’t get to see Chenoweth and Menzel perform (I just listened to the soundtrack ad nauseum), but the show itself was fun, thrilling and poignant.

The show opened in New York City in 2003, but according to Menzel on her Facebook page, the pair last shared the “Wicked” stage 12 years ago. Chenoweth and Menzel reunited to honor David Stone, the producer of the show, but you’ll sure be glad that the new rendition of “For Good” wasn’t a private concert.

The duet is stripped down, with just a piano accompanying the women, which perfectly showcases what powerhouses Chenoweth and Menzel are.

I was certainly fighting back tears as I watched, so you may wish to grab a tissue before you press play. Of course, it being Mother’s Day weekend and all, you may cry a little harder watching this if you also think of how your mother impacted your life. (Don’t worry, you still have a few hours as of the posting of this article to get your mom a gift for changing your life for good.)
