PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Fanendo Adi scored twice in a 4-minute span late in the second half to give the Portland Timbers a 2-2 tie with Real Salt Lake on Saturday night.

In the 79th minute, Dairon Asprilla chipped a shot toward goal that ricocheted off the crossbar and fell to Adi six yards from the goal. Adi volleyed it in for his second score of the season.

Four minutes later, Jamison Olave was ejected for apparently elbowing Adi in the face, and Adi scored on the ensuing penalty.

Joao Plata got his third goal of the season for RSL (1-0-2) in the 16th minute, but then RSL captain Kyle Beckerman was issued a red card 15 minutes later after a sliding tackle on Adi, reducing the visitors to 10 men. Despite the disadvantage, RSL double its lead in the 58th minute on a goal by Yura Movsisyan.
