CEDAR CITY, Utah (AP) — Joel Bolomboy scored a career-high 34 points with 10 rebounds and Weber State held off Southern Utah 87-83 on Thursday night.

Bolomboy was 10 of 14 from the field and 12 of 16 from the line as the Wildcats (19-7, 11-2 Big Sky) pulled even with Montana (16-8, 11-2) at the top of the conference. Weber State shot 53.5 percent and was 7 of 13 from beyond the arc. Jeremy Senglin added 15 points.

Southern Utah (4-20, 2-12) was led by James McGee with 21 points.

A close game throughout, Weber State opened a 10-point lead with 8:51 to go following an 8-1 spurt. Southern Utah narrowed the gap to one with 6:14 to go on Juwan Major's layup. But a dunk by Bolomboy and 3-point play by Kyndahl Hill put it back to a six-point game, and Weber State held off the Thunderbirds down the stretch.
