SALT LAKE CITY — A Salt Lake man accused of attempting to kill a West Valley City police officer was named Wednesday as Public Enemy No. 1 by the Unified Police Metro Gang Unit.

Christopher John McMillan, 43, was given the sinister designation one day after he was charged with attempted aggravated murder in connection with a police pursuit Saturday.

Police are searching for McMillan, who allegedly eluded officers after being spotted Saturday in West Valley City. He swerved toward a West Valley officer who was laying down tire spikes and crashed into a Unified police vehicle during the chase, charges say.

McMillan is also charged in an ongoing case for an October incident in which he allegedly shot his brother in the foot.

McMillan is a gang member, a requirement to be named Public Enemy No 1, according to Unified police. The person must also be wanted for serious offenses and be considered an active threat to the public.

McMillan is white, 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs around 210 pounds. He has an iron cross symbol and swastika tattooed on his right leg, and an additional iron cross tattooed on his left shoulder.

Anyone providing information leading to McMillan's arrest "may be eligible for a substantial cash reward," Unified police said in a statement.

Anyone with information about McMillan's whereabouts is asked to call Unified police at 801-743-7000. He is dangerous and should not be approached, police said.
