SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) — Nick Emery had 18 of his 31 points before intermission Saturday and BYU cruised in the second half to beat Santa Clara 96-62.

Emery's hot shooting carried over from BYU's 114-89 win over San Francisco on Thursday night when he set career highs of 37 points and 10 3-pointers.

Chase Fischer added 22 points and Kyle Collinsworth had 15 points, seven rebounds and eight assists.

The Cougars (19-8, 10-4 West Coast Conference) shot 70.4 percent (19 of 27) from the field in the first half, pulling away while Santa Clara (9-17, 5-9) slumped. The Broncos missed 14 straight from the field and BYU took advantage by outscoring Santa Clara 32-13 to close the half up 51-32.

Jared Brownridge had 16 points and KJ Feagin 14 to lead Santa Clara. The Broncos got no closer than 14 early in the second half and the Cougars steadily advanced from there.
