GAINESVILLE, Florida — This week on the cops-being-cool beat, you may have seen dashcam video of police officer Bobby White as he approaches the scene of noise complaint call on Jan. 21.

It appears White will just ask the people in the street to go home, but instead he says, "Obviously, I ain't got no problem with it," and begins to shoot some loose hoops. At the end of the video he promises to bring "backup" to come play a pickup game the next day. See? Good cop.

But the story doesn't end there. Gainesville police released a new video Saturday, which includes a massive surprise both for White and the "noisy" kids playing ball in the street.

Enter former NBA star and giant of a human being, Shaquille O'Neal.

Well, Shaq surprised us and dropped by GPD this afternoon. He saw our viral video and wanted to meet Officer White. ...

Shaq hams and it up and basically incites what looks like the funnest basketball block party ever. He even organizes a shooting contest where each kid has a chance to win $100.

Yes, the video is fun and will surely put a smile on your face. Heck, you may even get a little misty eyed when Shaq huddles up with the kids and gives them an encouraging and empowering speech about their futures.
