OGDEN — It is safe to say the Weber State Wildcats are ready to begin their conference schedule.

Weber State dispatched the lowly Multnomah Lions Monday night 114-47, the second-largest margin of victory in school history at 67.

The Wildcats also broke the school record for 3-pointers made with 19. Of the 11 players who played, every Wildcat who shot a three ball hit on at least one.

Weber also set season highs in points scored (114), assists (31), field-goal percentage (63 percent) and blocks (7). A dominating performance like this is just what Weber wanted as it moves into conference play later this week.

"We wanted to get certain things out of this game," said Weber State head basketball coach Randy Rahe. "We wanted to get the rust off from Christmas; we wanted to get in some rhythm; we wanted to get some guys minutes; and we wanted to play how we play. I thought the kids did everything that we asked them to do, and I thought we got out of it what we wanted."

With the game easily in hand from the opening tip, Rahe gave the bench some valuable playing time and rest his starters for a large portion of the game.

Freshman guard Juwan Williams, who scored 14 points in the game, including a spectacular behind the back spin move that led to a ferocious one-hand slam, was one standout off the bench.

"When I get comfortable there are a lot of things I can do that I don't even know that I can do," said Williams. "The player came and tried to take the ball, so I went around my back and then went up for the finish."

Freshman Cody John also played well off the bench with 12 points, five assists, while and hitting 2 of 4 3-point shots.

"It is just good getting out there knowing that as freshmen we can come out and help the team," said John. "Games like this just build our confidence as freshmen."

Star Weber forward Joel Bolomboy went 8 for 8 from the field, posting 18 points and 14 rebounds in just 16 minutes. Bolomboy had five dunks on the night as Multnomah could not contend with his size advantage in the post.

The real test for Weber (8-5) begins when it opens up Big Sky Conference play versus Idaho State Saturday, Jan 2.

"It's conference play and the intensity naturally goes up," said Rahe. "The urgency and the edge that you play with has to go up. That is the fun part. We will embrace the intensity of conference play and then go enjoy the competition."

Monday's win was the fourth straight home victory for the Wildcats. The first three conference games for Weber will be played in the Dee Events Center in Ogden.
