OGDEN — A standoff between a suicidal Ogden man who barricaded himself inside his house and SWAT team members ended peacefully after more than four hours Friday.

The incident began about 8:20 a.m. when Utah Highway Patrol troopers attempted to pull over a man driving at a high rate of speed on I-15 near the border of Box Elder County and Weber County, said UHP Sgt. Todd Royce. When the trooper first spotted the Dodge pickup, it was traveling more than 100 mph, he said.

Troopers attempted to spike the man's tires but were unsuccessful. As they were chasing the man, the driver called dispatchers to tell them he was armed, wanted to harm himself and wanted to speak with his wife, Royce said.

Near 21st Street in Ogden, UHP troopers called off the chase. Just a short time later, however, the car was spotted at the mouth of Weber Canyon. Royce said an unmarked patrol car from another police agency then followed.

Troopers were able to successfully spike three of the truck's tires at that point. A slow-speed chase ensued as the man tried to drive away on flat tires.

The man was able to make it to his house near 8th Street and Grant Avenue, where he ran out of his car and into his house.

Royce said the SWAT team was called to surround the house when he barricaded himself inside. About 12:20 p.m., the standoff came to a peaceful resolution.

Cody Hadley, 27, who is listed in court records as being from Huntsville, was arrested and booked into the Weber County Jail. He was charged earlier this week in Ogden Justice Court with intoxication and disorderly conduct in a separate incident, according to court records.

In January, Hadley and his wife filed separate protective orders against the other, court records state. In 2007 he was found guilty of misdemeanor theft.
