Dan Farr, Kyle Fox and Lance Heaton paddled around after the fifth annual Pumpkin Regatta at Sugar House Park in Salt Lake City Saturday.

The Pumpkin Regatta, where participants carved their pumpkins like boats then raced around the pond, is part of a series of events centered around growing enormous pumpkins.

The event followed a giant pumpkin weigh-off held at Thanksgiving Point, where the 1st place pumpkin weighed in at 1,488 pounds.

According to Utah Giant Pumpkin Growers, competitors have to make their boats out of "mostly pumpkin." Participants have formerly duct taped a couple of 200 to 300-pound pumpkins a sort of pumpkin sea-horse.
