WEST VALLEY CITY — Officers are searching for a suspect who offered to help a man fix his window before stealing his car in West Valley Friday morning, police said.

Just before 9 a.m. Friday morning, a 52-year-old male was parked in the parking lot of a 7-Eleven store at 2321 S. Redwood Road in West Valley City while attempting to fix one of the windows on his car, according to Sgt. Joshua Brown of West Valley Police. Another male approached and offered to help with the window, but after removing the door panel from the window, jumped into the driver's seat and began to drive away, Brown said.

The male victim attempted to stop the suspect by jumping into the driver's side window as the suspect drove away eastbound, and was dragged about 150 feet before letting go, according to Brown. The victim sustained only minor injuries, Brown said.

The suspect continued eastbound on 2320 South. A third party witness followed the vehicle as far as 4700 South and Constitution Blvd., but lost sight of it as it traveled westbound on 4700 South, Brown said.

The vehicle is described as a black 1994 Toyota Camry. Neither the suspect nor the victim's names have been released.

No arrests have yet been made, and police continue to search for the suspect.
