Remains of Colo. man missing 3 years found in Nevada

The remains of a Colorado man missing since 2012 have been found in eastern Nevada.

Police in Elko County were able to make positive identification of Robin Putnam's remains, and his family announced the finding on their Facebook page Friday night.

Putnam, who was 23 when he disappeared, last seen in July 2012 getting off an Amtrak train in downtown Salt Lake City. Police say his body was found in a remote area near railroad tracks about 15 miles outside of Wells, Nevada.

LDS returned missionary writes inspirational rap song

A recently returned missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is taking the Internet by storm with his unique rap mashup.

Colby Ferrin wrote the first part of his rap in August 2013, just before he left on his mission to Mexico City.

In the video, he throws down rhymes not traditionally used in rap music, such as "Send me now, in cheer I go. With Christ, there's no fear I know. Goodbye to the 18 years I've known. Watch out world, here I go."

Man dies following assault by girlfriend's brother, police say

A Herriman man died Saturday, hours after being hospitalized in critical condition following a fight with his girlfriend's brother.

Officers were called about 1 a.m. to a "fight in progress" in the 5900 West block of Moon Shadow Drive in Herriman. "When officers arrived, they could see a man lying in the road near the driveway," said Unified police detective Jared Richardson.

A neighbor was performing CPR on the 25-year-old victim, later identified by police as Blake Burningham. Officers took over the CPR until paramedics arrived and transported him to Riverton Hospital, police said.

Lyman ATV protest case: Federal judge recuses himself

Less than three weeks before a scheduled sentencing, a federal judge has recused himself in the case against San Juan County Commissioner Phil Lyman for the ATV protest ride he organized and led in Recapture Canyon in May 2014.

U.S. District Judge Robert Shelby filed an order of recusal Friday, citing the appearance of a conflict of interest because of his close friendship with Steve Bloch, legal director of the Southern Utah Wilderness Alliance.

Woman hospitalized after lightning strikes family picnic in Lehi

A woman having dinner with her family was hospitalized Sunday after lightning struck a nearby tree.

The 50-year-old woman was shocked when lightning hit a tree in the backyard of a home near 1100 West and 355 North about 6:30 p.m., sending her body into cardiac arrest, Lehi Fire Battalion Chief Rick Howard said.

Emergency crews intubated and revived the woman. She was rushed to Mountain Point Medical Center in critical condition, Howard said.

When Lone Peak quarterback Talmage Gunther ran in a 13-yard touchdown scamper with 5:44 left in the third quarter to put his team up 35-14 at Timpview, he knew his Knights had accomplished something big.

They had just snapped a 27-game winning streak, the fifth-longest in Utah state history, over the three-time defending Class 4A state champions.

And then, like most of the senior leaders on his team, his thoughts drifted to next week.
