But that didn't last long.

The Northern Utah native fired birdies on Nos. 12 and 16 to finish 2-under on the back-nine at Plainsfield Country Club in New Jersey, capping rounds that progressively got better from 69, 68, and 67 to help him to $363,000 in prize money — the largest paycheck of his PGA career to date. He also balanced two bogeys on the front with four birdies en route to his 4-under finish Sunday.

Blair wasn't the only former Utah Amateur champion to earn himself a positive move on the day. Fellow BYU alum Daniel Summerhays was just one shot behind Blair to finished tied for sixth, and West High graduate and current Lehi resident Tony Finau finished tied for 16th.

Finau provided a jaw-dropping highlight of the tournament, driving the green on the 306-yard par 4 at No. 18 to finish at 5-under.

Summerhays went from No. 66 to No. 40 in the FedEx Cup standings, while Finau vaulted to 32nd in the overall standings.
