It's like going on a treasure hunt. That's how most people describe "geocaching." Searching for a cache involves following clues, references or other navigational techniques to find a hidden container called a "cache." Inside are stored small trinkets and other items of little to no value for trading and a log book to keep track of those who have discovered it.

This summer, Intermountain Healthcare is putting a new twist on the exciting outdoor adventure: a chance to win a prize. Each week a new cache is hidden in a different county across the state. Locke Ettinger, director of health promotion with Intermountain Healthcare, hopes this activity inspires us to move.

"There's so many beautiful things here in the state of Utah to experience," he said.

Located on easy and accessible trails, Ettinger says these hunts are the perfect opportunity for adults and kids to reconnect with nature and one another.

"It draws them (kids) into the mystery and the allure of we're going to find something verses, Oh, you're going to make me drudge up this hill?" he said.

The rules are simple. Every Thursday afternoon a new hike is featured with clues on where to find the cache. Once you find the container, take your photo, post it on the Intermountain LiVe Well Facebook page and you'll be entered in to win a weekly prize.

"Here's a new chance to get out and move and experience something different. Maybe find a new trail, a prize, find a treasure, get your kids excited about it," he said.

The contest will continue as long as the weather permits. Click here to see where the latest cache is hidden.
