SOUTH OGDEN — Police have named the 18-month-old girl who was killed in an auto-pedestrian crash July 28 in a South Ogden parking lot.

Lexie Smith was struck by a vehicle in the parking lot of The Falls at Canyon Rim, an apartment complex at 6045 S. Ridgeline Drive, said South Ogden Police Lt. Dwight Ruth. Smith died from her injuries at Ogden Regional Medical Center.

In their initial investigation, police saw no "obvious signs" of alcohol, drugs or excessive speed contributing to the crash, according to Ruth. Other details concerning the crash have not been released.

A GoFundMe donation website was established in Smith's name to help her family with funeral costs. She was the youngest of three children, with an older brother and sister, according to the site.

"We are heartbroken. We don't know how we will endure this trial and loss," reads a statement on the donation site attributed to Smith's parents. "We love our sweet little Lexie so much. Losing her is unbelievably painful. Thank you so much for your love and prayers. We have felt them."
