LOGAN — Utah State wide receiver Hunter Sharp was one of 48 players named to the Biletnikoff Award preseason watch list, the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation announced Wednesday.

Chuckie Keeton was also named to the Wuerffel Trophy watch list, an award that emphasizes community and academic service by the nation's top football players.

Sharp, who was one of six Mountain West receivers to be nominated for the award, joins BYU senior Mitch Mathews on the Biletnikoff watch list. The 6-foot, 200-pound senior from Palmdale, California, finished his first season at Utah State with just shy of 1,000 yards receiving.

The Antelope Valley Junior College transfer led the Aggies with 969 receiving yards, 66 receptions and seven touchdowns in 2014, including four 100-yard receiving games. He also led the nation with four touchdown catches of 70 yards or longer.

The Biletnikoff Award honors the outstanding receiver in college football, making anyone who catches a pass (regardless of official position) eligible for the honor. The committee will announce 10 semifinalists on Nov. 16, followed by a vote from its 275 members to declare three finalists on Nov. 24.

The Wuerffel Trophy is considered college football's premier award for community service, and 80 players were named to the first watch list of 2015. Keeton and BYU signal caller Taysom Hill were among the 15 quarterbacks named to the list, which is named for 1996 Heisman Trophy winner Danny Wuerffel of Florida.

Nominations for the award close Oct. 15, and semifinalists will be announced Nov. 3. After the list is narrowed to its finalists on Nov. 24, the National Football Foundation will announce the winner Dec. 8 in New York City.
