TAYLORSVILLE — Nearly a dozen police officers are searching for a man who robbed a restaurant early Monday morning then ran away.

Unified police say this could be related to several other recent robberies.

Lt. John Barker of the Unified Police Department said just after midnight, a man wearing a paintball mask broke through the side door of Los Bertos restaurant at 4199 S. Redwood Road. He used a gun to threaten a cook, Barker said

The robber then demanded cash, which he got, then ran back out the side door.

He was last seen running past the Family Dollar across the street from the restaurant.

Police believe he then jumped into a car and drove away, Barker said.

Investigators believe this incident could be connected to other recently reported robberies.

"The description doesn't (match), but the behavior does. So I'm wondering if there isn't more than one in a group that's going around. But it's hard to say at this point," Barker said.

He described the robber as about 6 feet tall with an average build. Witnesses told police he spoke Spanish when he robbed the restaurant.
