Willard Bay State Park, Bear River Bird Refuge and miles of ATV riding, hiking and biking trails... Any of this sound fun? Yeah, we thought so too. But did you know all of this is part of Box Elder County?

Watch the birds

Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge offers some of the best birding experiences in Utah. With over 74,000 acres of land and 200+ species of birds, you're bound to see something amazing.

Willard Bay State Park

Known for its warm waters, Willard Bay is great place to windsurf, paddleboard, or do other recreational water activities like boating.

Golden Spike National Historic Site

The year was 1869 and the East met the West when Union and Central Pacific railroads joined tracks, forming the first transcontinental railroad. Today, visitors can stand on the very spot where the golden spike was driven. You also won't want to miss the real working locomotives and reenactments that run all summer.

Land art

Box Elder County is home to Robert Smithson's world famous Spiral Jetty. Smithson's wife, Nancy Holt also chipped in to Utah history by creating the wondrous Sun Tunnels.

  1. San Juan County: Parade, antique tractor pull, free concert in the park; vendor booths games and more on July 24-25.

  6. Bear Lake: Alaskan Salmon BBQ, Raspberry Days, relax on the beach and more!
  7. Kanab: Kanab's celebration of its rich Western Movie heritage, this year featuring appearances from Bruce Boxleitner, Barry Corbin, and other famous stars (Aug. 24-29).
  8. Logan: Utah's heart of the arts. Live theatre, Broadway, opera, free weekday concerts, gallery walks and more.
  9. Salt Lake: Utah's statehood celebration include parades, pageants and Utah's largest rodeo, Days of 47, July 12-25.
  10. Moab: Moab Music Festival — music in concert with the landscape (Sept 3-14).
  11. Cedar City: Cedar Breaks Wildflower Festival — Abundant displays of wildflowers celebrated with specials activities, tours and classes (Through July 19).
  12. Bryce Canyon: Bryce Canyon Geology Festival — Bryce Canyon National Park is known for its stunning geology—especially the colorful rock spires called "hoodoos."
