PROVO — It's been two weeks and still no sign of Elizabeth Salagado.

With each passing day, her family and friends are fighting to keep her name and her face out there. They're hoping someone knows something that could lead to her safe return.

Volunteers gathered again Friday to search for the missing 26-year-old. Alex Villalobos, who has never met Salgado, helped to organize the event.

"She was someone who was vulnerable and needed help," Villalobos said. "We want more people to hear about it."

"We have lots of volunteers," he added. "People are contacting me all the time and want to pitch in too."

Salgado was last seen leaving the Nomen Global Language Center, 384 W. Center, Provo. She had only lived in the area about a month and was attending school there to learn English. Police say there has been no activity on her cellphone or any of her credit cards since her disappearance.

Provo have called her disappearance suspicious, but said there was no positive evidence of a possible abduction as of Friday.

Salgado's parents, Libertad Edith Salgado-Figueroa and Julio Cesar Laguna Ozuna, recently arrived in Provo from Mexico to help in the search. On Friday, her father clutched a photo of his daughter showing it to anyone who would look his way.

The small but determined group fanned out, crossing the city blocks surrounding the school.

"We believe that someone would know something or know someone who knows something," Villalobos said.

At the end of the day of searching, what happened to Salgado remained a mystery. Still, Villalobos and the rest of the group vow to come back, walk these sidewalks every day, showing her picture and hoping for answers.

"Hopefully we can find her soon," Villalobos said.

Salgado was last seen wearing a denim jacket and blue jeans and carrying a denim handbag with red straps. She was wearing knee-high boots that were either black or brown.

If she has been abducted, family spokeswoman Sylvia Haro said, Salgado's mother stated Friday that, "I forgive the person that has her if he has done something to her. But let her go free."

Haro said searches like the one conducted Friday would continue this weekend on the ground, as well as a search from the air by a group of drone owners who are able to cover more ground.

Anyone interested in volunteering can get information on the searches by friending Haro on Facebook, she said. People with information can also call 801-852-6210.
