ST. GEORGE — Police are asking for the public’s help identifying a man who tried to pick up a boy Wednesday afternoon.
The incident occurred around 4 p.m. near the Tonaquint Intermediate School, according to the St. George police. A young boy was walking along Tonaquint Drive heading home after an after-school activity when a man drove up to the boy and asked him if he wanted a ride, police said.
The boy told the man “no,” but the driver continued asking the boy questions. A family friend of the student drove by and noticed the man talking to the boy along the street, police said. The family friend “was aware enough to know something was wrong” and turned around and gave the boy a ride home, police said.
"There was never an attempted abduction," St. George police Sgt. Sam Despain said. "It was just suspicious..."
The driver was described as a white male in his mid 20s with a lot of facial sores and mustache that was shaved in the middle beneath his nose. He was wearing a baseball cap and was driving a Gold-colored Sedan that had a lot of rounded dents, police said.
