NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (AP) — The Nebraska State Patrol says a Utah resident has been arrested after more than 70 pounds of marijuana was found in a car pulled over on Interstate 80 western Nebraska.

The patrol says the eastbound car was stopped around 1:15 p.m. Sunday for expired plates west of North Platte in Lincoln County. A State Patrol dog alerted officers to the odor of drugs coming from the vehicle, and the patrol says officers found the pot separated into 60 packages in three duffel bags in the trunk.

The patrol arrested 34-year-old Nicole Beard, of Salt Lake City, on suspicion of possession of marijuana for sale. Online court records don't list the name of an attorney who could be contacted to comment on Beard's behalf.
