Whether you're on a cross-country road trip or just hacking through the daily commute, everyone loves a good sing-along [behind the wheel](http://www.ksl.com/ad_logger/ad_logger. php? location=https://cars.ksl.com/&sponsor=KSLcars-April2015-body1). And if you're prone to belting it out, you're not alone: 56 percent of drivers admit to singing in the car, according to a study by DMEAutomotive. So what are the best songs for passing those long highway miles? Utahns have a few ideas.

"Life Is A Highway"

This is undoubtedly one of the best "sing in the car" songs. Young parents are likely more familiar with the version from Disney's "Cars" but whether you prefer the Rascal Flatts remake or the Tom Cochrane original, you have likely belted out this car ride classic.

"Man In The Mirror"

There are a number of eligible Michael Jackson songs to compete for greatest car songs. From "Billy Jean" to "Thriller" to "Bad," there is no denying that the man was a hit-making machine but there is something about "Man In The Mirror" that makes for an especially solid car performance. Maybe it's the choir or maybe it is trying to imitate Michael's unique sound. Whatever the reason Utahns love singing it in the car and in front of the mirror.

"Footloose"

If you click the link above and watch just ten seconds of the music video you'll know why Utahns love the movie and the song. When you're driving down I-15 and you pass the Lehi Main Street exit, it's hard not to get "Footloose" stuck in your head.

"Bohemian Rhapsody"

Queen's epic song may be just be the best song to head bang to while in the car. If head banging isn't your thing, you've still got great music to enjoy.

"Free Falling"

Something about the open road spells freedom. And that's exactly why it's so cathartic to belt out the Tom Petty classic.

"Everybody Talks"

Utahns are not the only ones who appreciate Utah's own, Neon Trees. The band that got their start on the stages of Provo is blasted on radios throughout the country but singing along is particularly cool if you're driving the roads where it all began.

"Since U Been Gone"

Everyone loves trying to sing as good as Kelly Clarkson in the car. You try to hit the high note and then you try to hold it for as long as she does. You never succeed but it's fun to try so you do "again and again and again and again."

"Don't Stop Believin'"

Who didn't hold fast to Journey's hopeful message during those formative teen years? Let the music take you on a walk down memory lane (or your high school hallways) with this one.

"Ticket to Ride"

The Beatles may be the vanilla ice cream of music; everyone loves it. With a travel-centric song like this one, you'll be belting it out with John, Paul, George and Ringo all the way home.

"Shake It Off"

A police officer in Dover, Delaware was caught on film singing along to Taylor Swift's "Shake It Off" but we doubt he is the only one who has been guilty of driving under the influence of T-Swift.

"Livin' on a Prayer"

You may have never worked on the docks, but just about everyone can relate to Bon Jovi's tale of hard times — not to mention that the chorus has some serious belt-it-out potential.

"Mr. Brightside"

Utahns love The Killers (and The Killers love Utahns). This tune is arguably the band's most sing-along-worthy song — just don't choke on the alibis.

"On the Road Again"

Country music fan or not, everyone is guilty of singing along to Willie Nelson's twangy tune on a road trip or two.

"You've lost that lovin' feelin'"

The Righteous Brothers had it right when they sang about "that loving feeling." Young or old, you can belt this one out while cruising.

"Let It Go"

Singing along to the theme song from Frozen may not even be a conscious decision; if you have kids — or live and breathe on Earth — you've had this song stuck in your head for a good 16 months already.

"I'm Gonna Be" (500 Miles)

Nothing can make a long drive feel a little shorter than the thought of walking 500 miles — and that's why this fun song by the Proclaimers is the perfect one to jam.

"Just Give Me a Reason"

Well, there is a reason that this Pink and Nate Ruess duet was the top Karaoke song of 2013, according to the Huffington Post; it's a whole lot of fun to sing along to.

"Party in the U.S.A."

OK, so maybe you've lost some respect for Miley Cyrus, but disregarding whether you like her as a person, this song is great to sing along to in the car.

"Rocket Man"

One of Elton John's many classics, "Rocket Man" speaks to the soul of the person behind the wheel. The ride gets better from there.

"Down By Lazy River"

Utahns tend to be a little partial to the Utah native Osmond family and this song is one of their best. No matter how long its been since you last heard it you can likely sing every word.

"Call Me Maybe"

For some reason, Carly Rae Jepsen has a knack for producing ridiculously catchy songs that you belt out on the freeway. Most recently, her song, "I Really Like You," even got Tom Hanks singing but let's not forget the tune that originally made her famous.

"Demons"

Another band that has become the pride and joy of Utah is Imagine Dragons. The band, that also came out of Provo, has released several car-worthy anthems including "Demons" and "I Bet My Life."

Honorary mentions include "The Great Salt Lake" by Band of Horses and "Salt Lake City" by the Beach Boys. After all, they did sing about Utah in a complimentary way.
