MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. — Bringing joy to people around the world, Google Maps turned its system into a giant game of Pac-Man Tuesday.

People who look up any location on Google Maps now have the option to click on a Pac-Man option in the lower left-hand corner and then cruise the streets in Pac-Man form while eating fruit and avoiding ghosts. The release appears to be an early April Fools day gag.

On Twitter, this is all Google Maps has had to say for itself about the Pac-Man development:

After accessing the Pac-Man game board, players can control their Pac-Man by using the arrow keys on a keyboard. People playing on mobile devices can navigate with their fingers. The game gives players five lives in each location and tracks scores.

Google Maps’ help page currently offers tips for players, including a list of riddles for figuring out the best places to play. The big square blocks of downtown Salt Lake City make avoiding ghosts extra tricky, but locations like the Google headquarters and White House offer a wealth of tightly packed, twisty paths.

Let us know where your favorite location for playing the game is in the comment section.
