ST. GEORGE — A multiple-vehicle accident closed northbound I-15 Tuesday afternoon.
The accident occurred on northbound 1-15 near the SR-9 exit just before 3 p.m., according to Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Todd Royce. One person was critically injured in the three-vehicle collision, Royce said. The victim is a Leeds resident and was transported by ambulance to the Dixie Regional Medical Center.
The freeway was closed due to the accident, but officials are working to get some lanes reopened.
Two additional accidents occurred about one mile from the first accident, one on northbound I-15 and one on southbound 1-15, Royce said. No one in either of those accidents were seriously injured.
Royce said investigators believe the weather and slick roads were a factor in all three accidents.
