SALT LAKE CITY — Climbing up 18 flights of stairs might not sound fun for most people, but dozens of Utahns did it Saturday for a good cause.

It's called the Fight for Air Climb, and organizers said participants helped raise money to help people who struggle every day to breathe.

The American Lung Association hosted the annual event at the Zions Bank Building, and participants were able to climb more than 372 steps to the top of the tower.

Firefighters from around the state were also involved, putting on 80 pounds of gear and competing against other firefighters. They said this competition is about more than just bragging rights.

"It makes you feel good, you know?" said Ashton Carraso, a firefighter at Hill Air Force Base.

"It's for a good cause, and it's a good competition in a local area with other fire departments, and it builds good comradery amongst other departments, as well," he said.

The money made at this event will help those with lung cancer and lung disease.
