Jay Leno to join Utah sport awards ceremony

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Jay Leno will join the Governor's State of Sport Awards dinner in Salt Lake City on April 21 to honor Utah's top athletic achievements for 2014.

Gov. Gary Herbert, who will present the awards, says the comedian and former television talk show host will be a special guest at the 4th annual dinner.

Olympic gold medalist and Deer Valley School director Stein Eriksen will receive a lifetime achievement award, while the Deer Valley Resort will be presented a 2015 Partner of the Year Award.

Top male and female high school, college, professional and Olympian athletes will be honored. The top team, coach and event of the year also will be recognized.

Leno, a motorsports enthusiast, was host of NBC's The Tonight Show with Jay Leno from 1992 to 2014.
