SALT LAKE CITY — Small kindnesses go a long way to making someone feel loved or special.

This week, we hear from a woman who just needed a little help with her dog after an exhausting day.

On helping hands:

Kaysie Y.

"I was taking my dog into PetSmart because I had lost his harness. I was walking into the store with my dog, his leash and my bag in my hands. I had been cleaning our new house all day so we could move in and was exhausted and dirty.

"I was in the leash aisle looking at all of the harnesses trying to find one that would fit my small dog. I ended up finding one after about five minutes and was on hands and knees, fumbling with it trying to figure out how to put it on my dog while holding him and my bag. I was clearly frustrated and could not figure out how this harness went on my dog when this lady and her son stopped to help me. She got down on her knees with me and said, 'I have this harness for my dog. Here, let me help.' She had that thing on him in seconds! She even took the time to explain to me how to put it on and how to remember how it goes on him for when I get home and take it off of him. That lady made my night. I've never had someone do an act of kindness like this to me.

"I just want to thank you lady from Logan, Utah. Every time I harness my dog, I remember how she taught me to put the harness on."

On a can of gas:

Dalane B.

"A few weeks ago, my husband decided at the last minute to drive to Idaho with his son even though it was a chilly day and his heater wasn’t working. On the way back, he ran out of gas thinking he had enough to make it to Tremonton.

"Already freezing from no heat, he got out and started pushing. After about half a mile, a nice couple stopped. They drove them to the nearest gas station to fill a gas can and drove them back to his vehicle. My husband told me how scared he was because the cars driving by were so fast and so close. He said that he wished he had some cash on him so that he could pay them for their troubles, so I’m writing this in hopes that they’ll see it. Thank you so much!"

On a hug:

"A friend and I went to St. Mark’s to visit her father who had had minor surgery. On the way to his room we passed a waiting area where a young woman in her 20s was sitting all by herself obviously upset.

"My friend went over to her and as she did, the young woman stood up. My friend just wrapped her arms around this woman and held her telling her everything would be all right. The young woman cried and cried as my friend just held her and comforted her. After the young woman stopped crying my friend kissed her forehead and released her. The young woman said thank you and walked away. I believe in human kindness."

On a simple gift:

Alisha T.

"I was in a local Target store on a Saturday evening to get a gift for a friend. I noticed a mom and her little girl along with someone in a wheelchair talking about something important to the little girl. She was so excited about an item hanging at the end of an aisle. As I got closer, I noticed a woman who walked up behind them, handed them some money and said, 'Here, a little girl should have stickers.' That woman just made the day for a little girl who just wanted some stickers."
