OGDEN — A man was arrested Thursday for allegedly obtaining large amounts of methamphetamine from Mexican drug cartels and transporting it to people in Weber County for money.

Agents from the Morgan/Weber Narcotic Strike Force, officers from Ogden City Community Police and special agents from the FBI coordinated on what they called a "major drug operation."

Carlos Jesus Inzunza Rodriguez, 31, was arrested during an undercover operation at a gas station in Pleasant view, said Lt. Troy Burnett with the Weber/Morgan Narcotics Strike Force said in a press release. Burnett said Rodriquez had $80,000 worth of drugs, including seven pounds of methamphetamine.

Rodriguez operated the major drug facilitation at his residence at 6469 Jeffs Circle in West Valley City, Burnett said.

When agents and police officers with the West Valley City Police Department searched Rodriguez’s residence, Burnett said they found an additional 12.5 pounds of methamphetamine and a pound and a half of a substance suspected to be “krokodil.” The substance will be tested in a lab for confirmation, Burnett said.

“If it is confirmed, it will be of great concern to our agency with such a dangerous drug being available in our communities in such a large supply,” Burnett said in the press release.

Agents and officers obtained a total of $600,000 in drugs and $4,000 in drug proceeds, Burnett said.

Rodriguez was booked into the Weber County Jail in connection with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute. Burnett said Rodriguez is from Mexico and has been living in the U.S. illegally, and an immigration hold has been placed on him.
