SALT LAKE CITY — A group of people eluded police for a short time after the car they were in crashed into a fence.

A trooper tried to pull over the vehicle around 1 a.m., according to UHP. The driver sped away, and crashed about 10 minutes later near 1700 S. Main Street in Salt Lake City.

The car took out the fence and missed a tree by inches, police said.

Police dogs tracked down three of the four people who allegedly fled, police said. Investigators did not know why they ran from police.

The 21-year-old driver, Nicholas A. Huetter, was arrested for investigation of DUI and fleeing. A man and woman, both 21 years old, were arrested for investigation of fleeing.

Police said the car was registered to the woman.

No injuries were reported.
