WEST WENDOVER, Nev. (AP) — A 27-year-old Utah man has been arrested on drug and other charges after he crashed his car while allegedly trying to flee state troopers during a chase near the Nevada-Utah line.
The Nevada Highway Patrol says Osvaldo Duran of Sandy was arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking after troopers found 10 grams of methamphetamine during a search of his vehicle Friday night.
Trooper Jim Stewart told the Elko Daily Free Press Duran was going more than 20 miles over the posted speed limit when officers tried to pull him over on a frontage road near West Wendover.
He says Duran took off and turned onto a dirt road before he crashed.
He also was booked on suspicion of speeding, reckless driving, driving under the influence and disobeying an officer.
