SALT LAKE CITY — Locally formed, Grammy-winning band Imagine Dragons partnered with Southwest Airlines and announced Monday that they will perform a concert at 35,000 feet for a few lucky fans.

The “in-air concert” is part of the Imagine Dragons tour to kick off their newest album, “Smoke and Mirrors,” according to manager, Mac Reynolds. Southwest will launch a sweepstakes on Feb. 3 that allows fans to win airline and concert tickets to four Imagine Dragons’ concerts. The concerts will be located in cities and venues where Imagine Dragons first developed as a band — Los Angeles, Atlanta, Las Vegas and Utah.

“They’re kicking off their upcoming ‘Smoke and Mirrors’ tour by going back to some of the clubs and cities where they first started out, to play in a more intimate setting,” Reynolds said. “It’s kind of like going back to the start.”

The first of the four concerts will be held in Los Angeles on Feb. 20 and the in-flight concert will be held on the flight from Las Vegas to Atlanta.

“About 40 or so fans will go to all four shows and fly everywhere,” Reynolds said. “They will spend a week with the band, basically.”

Fans can enter the contest by clicking here and listening to local radio stations that play Imagine Dragons, Reynolds said. The venues for the four concerts have yet to be announced.

Imagine Dragons is well-known for being interactive with its fans, including hiding clues on its album cover that led to a buried treasure and performing a benefit concert for a Utahn with cancer.
