SALT LAKE CITY — A man was arrested Friday evening after allegedly setting fire to his hotel room at the Little America.

Firefighters responded to the hotel around 2:49 a.m. after the Salt Lake City 911 Bureau received multiple reports of smoke coming from a room in the hotel's west wing. Firefighter's contained the fire to the one room, according to Salt Lake City Fire Department spokesman Jasen Asay.

More than 100 guests were forced to evacuate their rooms, and no one was injured, officials said.

Francisco Castillo, 19, told investigators he had smoked marijuana Thursday night and decided to light his room at 500 South Main Street on fire, Asay said.

Castillo had charged the room where the fire originated under his name and said he was alone in the room, Asay said.

Castillo was booked into jail Friday in connection with a first degree felony for arson, Asay said.
