SALT LAKE CITY — There are plenty of things to do after all the presents are unwrapped, naps have been taken and leftovers eaten on Christmas Day. Here's a list of some suggested activities near Salt Lake City on Thursday.

Activities

Theater chains such as Megaplex and Cinemark will be playing films throughout the day, as will boutique theaters like the Broadway Center and Tower Theatre.

Most ski resorts in Utah will be open, with the exception of Beaver Mountain and soon-to-open Cherry Peak. Mr. and Mrs. Claus will be visiting Snowbird and handing out treats between 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Santa will also appear at Solitude near the Link and Moonbeam lift between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. Skiers who dress as Santa — red hat, coat, pants and beard — will get free admission to Brighton on Christmas Day. The Canyons will continue to offer free activities in their village. Keep an eye out for new terrain at Park City Mountain Resort on Christmas Day.

Children can tube in Fort Frosty, ride miniature snow mobiles and learn to ski and snowboard at Gorgoza Park in Park City. Extended holiday hours run from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Religious services

For those looking to keep a spiritual focus through the day, here is a local churches offering Christmas Day services:

The Cathedral of the Madeleine, 331 E. South Temple, will celebrate Mass at 8 a.m., 10 a.m. and noon, and will hold a Spanish Mass at 3 p.m. Vespers and benediction are at 5 p.m.

Light displays

Families can also visit Temple Square to see the world-famous light display or visit any — or all — of the light displays throughout the state.
