CHRISTMAS CLOSET — Christmas is truly upon us. It’s time to trot out traditions, eat copious amounts of food and partake in a face-melting drum solo.
The smooth, inoffensive stylings of Andy Williams are a tradition in many homes during the holidays. After all, Williams’ holiday specials were epic in their day and still make an annual appearance on many PBS stations.
It’s no wonder that someone would want to pay homage to Williams, but there’s no accounting for the form homages may take.
YouTube user manwiththemoves starts his homage smooth and light and easy by playing drums in time with Williams’ rendition of “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year.” But once the lyrics start, all bets are off. He picks up the pace to the classic double-time and stylings associated with heavy metal.
It’s an impressive display that can only be appreciated by watching the video.
I will add my Christmas wishes to manwiththemoves’ and Kevin McCallister’s with a hearty “Merry Christmas, ya filthy animal.”
