ELY, Nev. (AP) — A Nevada man has been arrested in Utah in the death of his 3-month-old son.

Michael Curtis of McGill is being held at Utah's Salt Lake County Jail without bail awaiting extradition hearings to return him to Nevada.

The 34-year-old Curtis was arrested in Salt Lake City on Monday, the same day his child died at Primary Children's Hospital there.

White Pine County sheriff's deputies say an arrest warrant for open murder and child abuse was issued for Curtis after an investigation found the child suffered injuries to his brain, abdomen, rib cage and legs.

The Ely Times reports deputies responded Nov. 25 to an Ely hospital where the child was initially taken with a head injury. The infant was later transferred to the Utah hospital.
