PERRY, Box Elder County — An Orem man suspected at firing several shots at another motorist in an apparent road rage incident earlier this month has been arrested.

The Utah Department of Public Safety's State Bureau of Investigations on Wednesday announced the arrest of Nathan Amosa, 25.

On Dec. 5, the driver of a pickup truck told Utah Highway Patrol troopers that his vehicle was shot on I-15 near the Perry port of entry. A bullet was later recovered by investigators from the man's tailgate, as well as two shell casings on I-15. UHP investigators say the gunman also used his van to sideswipe the pickup truck, causing the van's side mirror to break off.

Based on a partial plate number and vehicle description provided by the pickup truck driver, investigators were led to a potential suspect in Tremonton. From there, they learned of Amosa's name.

On Tuesday, Orem police and officers from the State Bureau of Investigations questioned Amosa and arrested him. A gun was also recovered, according to the UHP.

Investigators said both men were angry about the other person's driving when the shooting occurred. No one was injured in the incident.

Amosa, according to state court records, has been charged in justice courts several times in 2014 with alleged bad driving habits. He was charged with driving on the wrong side of the road and not having a driver's license in March; no driver's license, speeding 87 mph in a 65 mph zone in April; reckless driving in May; speeding 40 mph in a 25 mph zone in July, in addition to assault in November.
