THE DINNER TABLE — A Utah company brought together the Humane Society of Utah and a fresh pet food company to create a hilarious version of a traditional holiday feast.

Provo-based company, ShareAbility, made the video not only to help promote Freshpet pet food, but “in hopes of showing people how wonderful and well-behaved these shelter dogs could be in hopes of finding them a home for the holidays,” said Spencer Streuper from ShareAbility.

Steruper said it was “one of the craziest but most rewarding shoots we have ever done,” and with good reason. For who in their right mind would try to get 13 dogs and one cat to behave while being dressed up in clothes with a plate of food right under their noses while a human is at their back trying to control what they get to eat? A creative company with passion and energy, that’s who.

"The hardest videos to execute usually end up being the best videos. We decided to push the limits and go for it where many may have said it's just too hard," said co-founder and CEO of ShareAbility, Cameron Manwaring, in an emailed statement.

The dinner table full of pets with human arms has all the usual suspects — a grumpy teenager texting through the meal, a hinky relative making off with the silver, a no-nonsense patriarch at the head of the table, a grandparent that always seems slightly confused in the commotion, and much more.

Aside from the sweet faces of all the pets, the attention to detail amongst the silly, sloppy fun is one of the charms of the video. Every pet is dressed to a T, and there’s even a some nice cat-themed art adorning the mantle.

Most of the pets featured in the video are up for adoption at the Humane Society of Utah. Freshpet will pay for the adoption fees of any animal in the video, as long as the adopter meets adoption requirements, and provide the adoptive family with a supply of Freshpet food, according Manwaring.

The representative of the Humane Society of Utah states in the behind the scenes video that they are trying to reach the goal of adopting out 9,000 dogs and cats in 2014. I’m happy to report that on Dec. 3, they made their goal and now have their sights on 10,000 adoptions by the end of the year.

To adopt an animal from the Humane Society of Utah, visit its website or its facility at 4242 S. 300 West in Murray.

For those animals lovers who can’t adopt a pet, Freshpet is also raising money* through its Giving Paws campaign to benefit five no-kill shelters, including the Humane Society of Utah.
