FARMINGTON — Cabela’s, a megastore that labels itself "the World’s Foremost Outfitter" for hunting, fishing and outdoor gear, announced plans today for construction of a second store in Utah.

The 72,000-square-foot store will open in the newly planned Park Lane Commons development adjacent to Station Park in Farmington in the spring of 2016, according to a news release.

The new establishment, which won’t be too far from the Farmington FrontRunner station, will offer local Utahns a variety of employment opportunities, including 175 full-time, part-time and seasonal positions, which will be primarily available for residents of Farmington and surrounding areas.

“We are so pleased to welcome Cabela’s to the Farmington family,” Farmington Mayor James Talbot said. “We are a unique community full of gathering places and we see Cabela’s reinforcing what we have been working on for many years.”

In the summer of 2015, Cabela’s will offer a 600,000-square-foot distribution center in Tooele.

We have a wonderful store in Lehi and are thrilled to be adding a second store location and state-of-the art distribution center to better serve our loyal customers.

“Utah is a great place for the outdoors and for Cabela’s,” Cabela’s Chief Executive Officer Tommy Millner said in a news release. “We have a wonderful store in Lehi and are thrilled to be adding a second store location and state-of-the art distribution center to better serve our loyal customers.”

True to its brand, the new Cabela’s will create an outdoor-like atmosphere, equipped with log construction, stonework, wood siding, a large mountain replica, an aquarium and dozens of museum-quality wildlife displays.

The store will even offer family-friendly features like an indoor archery range and archery tech room, a bargain cave, a deli and a fudge shop.

For outdoors enthusiasts and novices alike, the staff will teach seminars and host demonstrations sharing tips and insight on outdoor products and activities.

Cabela’s has 64 stores across North America and plans to open 20 more locations over the next three years.

The establishment opened its Lehi store in 2005.
