Wagner leads Seattle to win in return from injury

SALT LAKE CITY — Seattle Seahawks linebacker Bobby Wagner has had the injury bug bite him this season.

The Seahawks have struggled a bit in their post-Super Bowl days, but Wagner’s return Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals sparked Seattle to a 19-3 win against the NFL’s best team.

The Utah State alumnus registered eight tackles in the win, while fellow Aggie alum Robert Turbin rushed for 12 yards in the game.

Several former Utah defensive stars had highlight performances this past week. Cleveland’s Paul Kruger made three tackles and two sacks in the Browns’ 26-24 win over Atlanta. The Falcons’ Paul Soliai made two tackles in the game.


Former Utah receiver Steve Smith scored a touchdown for Baltimore in the Ravens' game against New Orleans.

Kansas City quarterback Alex Smith threw for 234 yards and two touchdowns, but the Chiefs were defeated by the Oakland Raiders, 24-20. Chiefs cornerback Sean Smith made four tackles in the game. Also, Oakland’s Keith McGill made a tackle in the Raiders win.

Dolphins linebacker Koa Misi made seven tackles, but Miami still lost to the Denver Broncos, 39-36. Derrick Shelby also contributed two tackles for Miami. San Diego safety Eric Weddle made nine tackles in a win over the St. Louis Rams, while Tenny Palepoi contributed three tackles in a 27-24 San Diego win.

BYU alum Ezekiel Ansah made three tackles for Detroit in a 34-9 loss to New England, while Kyle Van Noy contributed a tackle in the loss.
